Destination Guide
Price Tower in Bartlesville is the only realized skyscraper designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Completed in the 1950s for the H.C. Price Company, the slender tower rises unexpectedly above a small Oklahoma city, making it one of the state's most internationally significant works of architecture.
Wright adapted ideas he had explored for earlier unbuilt projects, organizing the tower around a central structural core with cantilevered floors extending outward. Copper detailing, geometric patterns and custom interior elements give the building a distinctively Wrightian appearance.
The tower's history extends beyond its original corporate use, with later adaptations for offices, hospitality, exhibitions and cultural programming. Access and operating status have changed over time, so visitors should confirm current conditions before making a special trip. Even from the exterior, however, Price Tower is remarkable. Combined with Bartlesville's oil heritage and the Frank Phillips sites, it demonstrates how corporate wealth brought nationally important architecture to northeastern Oklahoma.
