Destination Guide

Collings Castle in the Arbuckle Mountains near Davis is an unusual stone residence built in the early twentieth century within the area now associated with Turner Falls Park. The structure resembles a small European-inspired castle, with rough stone walls, towers and elevated views over the rugged landscape. The building was created as a private retreat and reflects the romantic architectural tastes of the era, when wealthy owners sometimes adapted medieval or rustic forms to recreational estates. Its stone construction blends surprisingly well with the surrounding Arbuckle rock. The castle is now part of the Turner Falls experience rather than an independent museum with extensive interpretation. Visitors can explore portions of the structure while also enjoying the park's waterfall, caves and swimming areas. Its appeal is largely visual and atmospheric: the unexpected presence of a castle-like ruin among Oklahoma cliffs makes it one of the state's more unusual architectural stops. Care is appropriate on stairs and uneven stone surfaces, especially when the park is crowded or wet.
